Sunrise Smoothie

The Sunrise Smoothie uses coconut cream, which makes it smooth and thick. Coconut cream is a super healthy fat. I buy this one which you can find on Amazon. To keep the Sunrise Smoothie super healthy, be sure and grab a can of coconut cream that has ONLY the one ingredient (coconut). Nothing else. Many that you’ll find in grocery stores have various forms of sugar, and that being the case, this will turn out way too sweet, and also NOT helpful in the healthy department.

The trick to getting the perfect Sunrise Smoothie is to place your can of coconut cream in the fridge for at least a few hours (I always have a can hanging out in there for whenever I need it). When you do that, the thick, creamy part will rise to the top, leaving the liquid part at the bottom. Save the liquid part and throw it into a smoothie as well.

What you’ll do for this recipe, though, is scrape some of the thick cream from the top of the can using a spoon.

Sunrise Smoothie

This is the MAJOR game-changer for this smoothie.

Freeze Your Fruit Ahead Of Time

I like my Sunrise Smoothie thick and creamy, so freezing my fruit ahead of time makes all the difference. I simply cut the fruits (strawberries, mango, and bananas), and throw them in the freezer in small containers or baggies. You can also purchase some of these fruits frozen, so check your grocery store’s frozen section if you’d rather to that.

I almost always have a couple of bananas that we didn’t eat through the week, so instead of throwing them away, I quickly cut them into small chunks and throw them in the freezer.

Unsweetened Almond Milk

Here’s another one where you want to avoid hidden sugar. I use unsweetened almond milk, but you could also use unsweetened cashes or coconut milk. Whatever works for you! Just be sure that it is unsweetened. Trust me, you will not need the sweetened version!

How To Make It Sweet, The Healthy Way

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you know that I am a HUGE fan of this sweetener. It is called Pyure and you can get it on Amazon. This sweetener is amazing.

It is all-natural, but unlike honey or maple syrup, it will not raise or lower the blood sugar. And since spikes and dips in the blood sugar can do more harm than good, we like that aspect!

It tastes more like actual sugar than any other stevia-based sweetener I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a LOT), and is twice as sweet (yay for not needing as much!).

I HIGHLY recommend grabbing this and having it on hand for recipes like my weight-loss friendly oatmeal, as well as for other yummies like coffee!

Protein Powder

You can use your favorite protein powder! Ideally you’ll want one with a protein content of about 15-20 grams of protein per serving, and not a lot of sugar or other chemical sweeteners. I like this one as it is sweetened with stevia, completely organic, and reasonably priced. Here’s the vegan option (that also contains greens, enzymes, and lots of other goods)!

Mix It All Together And Voila!

I use a food processor like this one, to keep dishes minimal and quick! It’s small and inexpensive, but powerful!

Throw it all together, pulse a few times, then mix full-on for about a minute!

You’ll want to scrape every last drop into your cup! And when you take that first sip you’re going to be shocked at how delicious it is.

So without further ado… here’s the recipe!
