You’re going to fall in love with this easy, moist, healthy banana bread recipe.

I debated whether I should call this one “cake” or “bread” because it’s sweet and decadent. Even my picky-eater kids love it! You can keep it super simple, or dress it up with some brown sugar or toffee glaze.

I love making a huge batch of this, but you can cut the ingredients servings in half for a smaller, square glass baking dish. In our household, we make a huge cake pan of this banana bread, and use it all through the week. We eat it for breakfast, afternoon snack, or during our evening tv time.

It tastes like a cheat treat, but it’s actually really healthy! There is no added sugar, and the ingredients are considerably clean!

I originally found this recipe in a Trim Healthy Mama cook book and have tweaked it over the years. I’m totally obsessed with this recipe!!!

Healthy Sweetness

We have a healthy sweet tooth around here, so we have to figure out how to get delicious sweetness without the unhealthy benefits. We don’t get it perfect, but we do try to be as healthy as we can, so this bread fits right into our little fam.

One of the things that makes this banana bread recipe so delicious, is the sweetener I use. I’ve searched the world high and low for a healthy alternative for sugar and this is what I’ve found. I use two different sugar alternatives in this recipe, and neither are chemical sweeteners. They’re both stevia-based and zero calories. It’s the healthiest, tastiest thing I can find that bakes just like sugar would.

The good thing is, you can order them on Amazon! The one that tastes like regular sugar is called PYURE, and the one that tastes like brown sugar is called SWERVE.

If you’d rather not use either of these, or if you just need to make due with what you’ve got on hand, just use regular sugar and brown sugar!

Easy Banana Bread Recipe

Good news, my friend! You’ll mix all the ingredients into one huge bowl and then pour it into the baking dish for this recipe. It is so simple and easy. That’s what I love about it. Because dirty dishes are for the birds and my sink stays full of them enough as it is!

The Magical Ingredient

While I think that there are several magical ingredients in this easy banana bread recipe, my hubby’s mind was blown when he found out I used Cake Batter Flavoring in this recipe. The firs time I added it to the recipe, he about melted to the ground with his first bite.

This ingredient can be found on Amazon, or possibly in your local grocery store. I order the two-pack because I found it goes great in smoothies and even some coffee recipes!

NOTE: This ingredient is OPTIONAL! The recipe will still be absolutely delicious without it!

The Brown Sugar Glaze

I should have placed quotation marks around the words “brown sugar” since I use an alternative in my recipe. The glaze is super easy to make and will knock your socks off with flavor. All you do is melt some butter in a pan, add some Brown Swerve, and let it come to a soft boil. You’ll stir the entire time and remove from heat as soon as it comes to a full soft boil.

You’ll want to do this just after removing the banana bread from the oven. That way the banana bread can cool just a bit before you pour the glaze over the top.

Banana Bread Toppings

You can eat this totally plain, even without the glaze! But you can also tweak it to your liking by adding chocolate chips, whipped cream, nut butter, honey, or pecans. Whatever sounds delicious to you!

Healthy & Easy Banana Bread Recipe
Servings 15 servings

Ingredients

  • Cooking Spray
  • 4 large Bananas Any degree of ripeness will work
  • 4 cups Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats Ground Into Flour Using Blender
  • 1 cup Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats Left Whole
  • Pinch of Salt I use pink sea salt
  • 4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Pyure Use sugar if you'd rather
  • 1/2 cup Serve Brown Sugar Use regular brown sugar if you'd rather
  • 2 cups Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 2 cups Egg Whites
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tbsp Banana Extract optional
  • 2 tbsp Cake Batter Flavor optional

For The Brown Sugar Glaze

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Swerve

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Using a fork, mash the bananas in a bowl.
  • Add all the other ingredients into the bowl and mix together with a wooden spoon. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a golden brown color appears on top. Use a fork and press straight down in the middle of the banana bread to ensure it is cooked through. If the fork comes out clean, it's ready! If the fork has uncooked ingredients on it, then cook it a little longer.

For The Brown Sugar Glaze

  • Place the butter in a small sauce pan and begin heating. As the butter melts, pour in the brown sugar swerve. Bring to a soft boil, stirring regularly. Keep stirring on medium heat for one minute after the mixture reaches a soft boil. Reduce the heat if necessary so you don't overcook.
  • Remove from heat and drizzle IMMEDIATELY over top of the banana bread. Use a spoon or soft spatula to smooth over the entire dish.

Notes

You can half the recipe if you’d like a smaller amount. Consider using an 8-inch dish if you half the recipe.

Cut into squares and store in an air-tight container for up to 7 days. Heat in the microwave when you’re ready to enjoy!
