Imagine an easy green smoothie recipe you actually look forward to drinking! Well my friend… I’ve got that for you today.

This green smoothie recipe is so incredibly easy to throw together that you’re going to think it couldn’t possibly be as delicious as I’m saying it is. But I’m telling you, it totally is!!

I can’t take the credit here though, because I didn’t come up with this recipe myself. I actually got it from my awesome friend (and fitness powerhouse) Erika Foster!! Nearly every time I go to her house she’s drinking a smoothie. But somehow her green smoothies always look so yummy! But knowing that there are five billion (give or take) variations on how you could make a green smoothie, I decided to ask how she makes hers.

She said “well it’s kind of boring and nothing fancy, but I’ll tell ya. It’s almond milk, banana, peanut butter, spinach, and protein powder.”

That was all I needed to run home and try it for myself.

What I love about this easy green smoothie is that you’ll most likely have all or almost all of the ingredients in your kitchen already. There are two little specifications I made for my own green smoothie, and I’ll share those with you as well.

First, it’s the sweetener. In order to make this one nice and healthy, I use this sweetener from Amazon. If you’re an avid follower of my blog you’ll find this sweetener in nearly every single recipe I make. The reason for this is that it’s the most like sugar of all the different sweeteners I’ve tried. It’s stevia based, but it’s granulated and the flavor is amazing. There’s no aftertaste. It’s also zero calories, so hello healthy!

The other ingredient that I personally recommend is this protein powder. It’s cheap ($20 on Amazon), vegan, super healthy, and MOST importantly… DELICIOUS!! I swear this gives the absolute perfect flavor to this green smoothie recipe!

Other than that, grab whatever you want! And you can most certainly use your own sweetener of choice (or none at all), and same with the protein powder. Use what you love! I recommend vanilla flavored if you’re doing a different protein powder. That’s what my trusty fitness friend Erika uses. 🙂

Oh. And I use JIF Natural peanut butter because it’s unbelievably yummy and I tell myself all the spinach benefits overpower the sugar in the peanut butter. Meh… Balance, amIright? You can of COURSE use almond butter or any nut butter without added sugar.

WHAT?! This easy green smoothie is also HEALTHY?!

Yes, my friend. It is.

Not all green smoothies qualify as healthy or weight-loss friendly, but this one has proven to be both in my book.

It’s less than 300 calories, and is chock full of the incredible benefits of loading up on leafy greens!

Other than in the peanut butter, you won’t find any refined sugar. And you can also swap the sugary peanut butter for a healthier one. So… win win!

I love enjoying this easy green smoothie as breakfast, a light lunch, an afternoon snack, or a refuel after a long run. If you’re in need of extra calories, double the recipe! I’ve done it!

A Green Smoothie That Doesn’t Taste Like Spinach

Is it weird that I don’t want my green smoothie to taste like a tree? Here’s what I do to make sure it doesn’t. It’s super simple. You just blend the unsweetened almond milk and the spinach for a good 45 seconds before adding all the other ingredients. Get it super smooth and then add everything else. It’s a game changer!

I have a full-sized blender (I like this one from Amazon), and I load that bad boy up as full as I can with spinach. I pour in one cup of milk, then fill the blender all the way up with those amazing leafy greens. Blend, and I then have a beautiful base for my smoothie.
