I happen to be very picky about my ranch dressing. And yes, I’ve been known to choose a restaurant based on the amazingness of theirs.
So for me to say that this dressing is phenomenal, means something.
I found a version of it in the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook. Over the years I’ve tweaked the recipe, AND…. get this!!!! MADE IT VEGAN!
And before you click the “x” at the top of this page, know that if I had never told you it was vegan, you’d never ever know.
I personally am not “vegan” per se. Well, at all really. But I do avoid most dairy, so an incredible-tasting, dairy-free, homemade ranch dressing is definitely a major win in my book.
The only warning I’ll give you is that my measurements for the dressing are approximate. I personally just throw the ingredients in the bowl. I “eye it” for the most part.
That’s not the case for the seasoning mix portion of the recipe, however. This one came straight from the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook. And that part, I follow exactly. But you could certainly tweak that as well.
So here goes.
First, mix up your ranch seasoning mix. This will make more than you need for one batch of ranch dressing, so store the extra in a ziplock bag or a mason jar.
I just throw them straight into a small food processor, then pulse for a bit.
- 3 TBSP garlic powder
- 3 TBSP dried minced onion
- 6 TBSP parsley flakes
- 3 TBSP sea salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
I love that these ingredients are ones that I almost always have in my pantry already.
Next, mix together the following ingredients into a bowl:
- 1 full packet of So Delicious! Yogurt Alternative (Unsweetened)
- 3 cups vegan mayonnaise
I literally use estimations here. I pour in the packet of yogurt and then add spoonfuls of mayonnaise until it looks like about 3 parts mayo and 1 part yogurt.
Then, you’ll sprinkle in about 2-3 TBSP of your ranch seasoning mix.
Stir, taste, tweak.
Maybe you like of a mayo-ish dressing… make it how you like it!!
And finally, I add the mixture to a mason jar. I add about 3 TBSP of water, and shake well.
You can make your dressing thicker (better for dipping raw veggies), or more watery (better for drizzling on salad while limiting calories). Just add tiny (do not overdo it!!) amounts of water until you have it how you want it. It will thicken as it chills in the fridge.
This ranch dressing is AMAZING. I will never again buy store-bought ranch. This tastes BETTER, and is much healthier as there are no chemicals, preservatives, etc… And best of all, my kiddos LOVE IT! They even eat salads now. It’s a miracle.
Don’t take my word for it!! Try it for yourself and see what you think!!
